Miniature Tea Shop by Larry and Betty Herman

Larry and Betty own a miniature business, Itty Bitty Builder, in Walnut Creek, California. They have created this tea shop for own their enjoyment.

Betty states, “We’ve always enjoyed going to tea shops, so we wanted to create a miniature tea shop of my own. This one evolved from very simple to, in my humble opinion, an elegant one. I named It ‘Eliza’s Tea Shoppe,’ after my grandmother, Eliza. I really enjoyed working on it and acquiring such pretty items for it. Some of  the dolls came from England which made it special.”
“My ancestry is full English, even though I don’t remember having tea with my grandmother (however, I was only 17 when she passed away). She did a lot of handwork, including tatting, so I thought the lacy tablecloths worked well. I collected items over the years before I actually started working on the tea shop. It was so much fun!! We acquired the plywood shell and my husband, Larry, modified it with the addition of the windows, door, and completed the interior and exterior including the verdigris patina roof and marble floor. The stained glass window was made by Barbara Sabia. Other artisans include Valerie Casson, Carl Bronson, Beate, and Pete Acquisto. The chandeliers were made by Jason Getzen.”
