A MiniCals Class with Cynthia Howe
The project features a 1″ scale hutch filled with millinery supplies and items. The hutch and its contents are original designs by Cynthia Howe. Many of the items feature vintage artwork from the Edwardian era.
Students will assemble and finish the hutch, create and decorate the silk hat; while learning both furniture construction and finishing, and basic mini millinery techniques. Participants will learn to create ribbon roses, work with feathers, etc. Choice of hat colors: dusty purple or rose-colored silk.
The hutch is filled with ribbon spools and reels, hatpin holder and hatpins, antique shoe pincushion, a fan shaped vase filled with feathers, hatpin tablets, and more. An Edwardian era hatbox will also be constructed.
