Exhibits from the 2019 Good Sam Show

The 2019 Good Sam Show took place September 12-13, 2019 in San Jose, California. An exhibit of the work of local miniaturists was on display in the hallway of the show.

“Farm Stand” by Laura Johnson. This was created in a workshop at the NAME Sacramento houseparty. Laura is a member of the Mini Attics.

“Hopsing Lee Chinese Laundry” by Moonyeen Moller. This scene represents a laundry located in 1950’s-era San Francisco. The doll is by Sharon Cariola.

Fourth of July fireworks collection by Nancy Peters. Nancy and her husband are pyrotechnicians. The rockets are reproductions of real rockets.

Small Scale Shops by Gabriele Layne. Gabriele states, “This was a challenge for me – trying to make items in such a small scale to fit on the shelves.”

“Birds of a Feather” by Barbara Jones. Barbara states, “How could I resist these mallard ducklings in the scene by Beth Freeman Kane!” The scene in a lantern contains osa orange wood from Barbara’s woodpile.

“Margo” by Juanita Landa. This was the first doll that Juanita dressed and wigged. She took part in the Good Sam Academy Class taught by Dana Burton.

Pictures from the MiniCals Potting Bench Workshop

On Saturday, April 13th, 2019, MiniCals club hosted an adorable potting bench vignette with everything needed to complete the project. Participants learned to macrame a hanging basket and fern, created a flat of seedlings, and decorated a gardening hat. The potting table included lots of accessories.

At a recent gathering of the MiniCals, Juanita Landa showed her shabby chic shelf that was created in a MiniCals 2016 workshop. Juanita displays her shelf inside of a lantern, and calls the piece, “Through the Looking Glass.”

Photos from the MiniCals “Making Lingerie” Workshop

The MiniCals club hosted a workshop on January 21, 2017. Ruth Heisch taught participants how to make a corset, panties & bra, nightie, bloomers or pantaloons, petticoats, and decorating with silk roses. In addition to making the lingerie, students received a mannequin, a vintage corset box, a glue applicator and a rose maker.
