Are you planning to attend, or would you like to attend a NAME Day event? MiniCals and Through the Looking Glass miniature clubs will be offering their NAME Day event in Morgan Hill, California.

NAME Day 2024 will be a bit different than previous years. There will not be a new project for 2024. Instead, NAME will be offering all of the previous NAME Day projects for purchase.

Join MiniCals and Through the Looking Glass clubs for their NAME Day event on Saturday, September 28, 2024 in Morgan Hill, California. The theme will be “Halloween”.

As a help to the event organizers, please let them know which of the following projects you’d like to repeat or do for a first time:
• The Hutch(2010)
• The Alcove (2012)
• The Cart (2013)
• Window Shopping (2015)
• 3-sided vignette (2023)
• Another choice

Send your choice for consideration to Ruth Heisch, grouchybeartoo@aol.com.

NAME Day 2022

The purpose of NAME Day is to unite and involve all NAME members by doing the same project on the same day at different locations throughout the US and internationally. Participation in an event may occur in clubs, locally, statewide, regionally, or online.

NAME Day will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2022. Expanded events (or areas with conflicting dates) should occur as close to this date as is reasonably possible.

Project: All events will center on the same project. The 2022 NAME Day project will be a memory box that is designed to show off past, present and future special items. NAME is also planning a series of reasonably priced kits (similar to Quick Minis) and/or finished pieces all year long!

This year’s NAME Day project will offer only one size. The project has 12 small compartments and one larger middle section. Kits will include an etched 50th Anniversary logo that may be placed anywhere.

Add your own favorite 8″ x 10″ picture frame to keep out the dust, optional lighting, a shelf, or a pedestal for small items. The options are yours.

Attend a local event or participate online.

Announcing NAME Day 2021

The purpose of NAME Day is to unite and involve all NAME members by doing the same project on the same day at different locations throughout the US and internationally. Participation in an event may occur in clubs, locally, statewide, regionally, or online.

NAME Day will take place on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Expanded events (or areas with conflicting dates) should occur as close to this date as is reasonably possible. Please check with the local coordinators to make sure that the event is still happening during the pandemic.

Project: All events will center on the same project – “The Tiki Bar.” Plans for the project will be provided in 1”, 1⁄2” and 1⁄4” scale as soon as they are available. Some cutters may produce kits for 1/144” scale. Perhaps you would want it on a beachfront? Maybe in the backyard by the pool? How about a Tiki Bar ambience at a ball game or county fair? Maybe just a scene on it’s own? You can serve cold drinks using the cooler that is a part of the project for storing ice, store your glasses, bottles, whatever on the shelves, put some nice bar stools in front to sit on and relax. You might want to do some landscaping around the bar, include some little tables and chairs around a patio. So many options and this will be a complete project this year. Only for 2021. No further projects to wait a whole year for.

One 1″ free kit will be available for groups who register their events with the NAME Day Committee but they will not be shipped out until mid-April, 2021. Cutter lists will be posted in April also.

Cutters will have accessory kits for sale so you will have to check their websites and offerings.

Contact Barbara Thornton-Hill to register your event. Still not meeting in person at facilities? How about a Zoom Event? Several groups found those to be satisfactory in 2020. You can have the fun of sharing with others and also the privacy of assembly in your own workspace.

More information about NAME Day in the N2 Region will be posted as it becomes available.

This information is offered as a service to the community of miniature enthusiasts. If you know of a miniature related event or have information/photos to share, please contact the N.A.M.E. N2 Region Webmaster.

Make Your Plans for NAME Day 2020

The purpose of NAME Day is to unite and involve all NAME members by doing the same project on the same day at different locations throughout the US and internationally. Participation in an event may occur in clubs, locally, statewide, regionally, or online.

NAME Day will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2020. Expanded events (or areas with conflicting dates) should occur as close to this date as is reasonably possible. Please check with the local coordinators to make sure that the event is still happening during the pandemic. By Small Design will not be hosting the NAME Day in Sacramento during this time.

Project: All events will center on the same project – “The Cabinet and Sink” that fit with the theme started last year, “The Dream Craft Room.” Plans for the cabinet and sink will be provided in 1”, 1⁄2” and 1⁄4” scale as soon as they are available. Some cutters will produce kits for 1/144” scale.

More info is available on the NAME website.

It’s an online club with is own website and a chatroom. A full team of organizers laid out a plan to include lots of activities like any other club.

The club’s digital doors are open to NAME members and guests. The guests have a 90-day grace period to join NAME and participate in the NAME sponsored activities like NAME Day, houseparties, conventions, Hallmark contests, etc.

Free seminars and workshops are planned for the club (like any other club) and quarterly live meetings will help the members get to know each other. The team that manages the club is made up of seasoned veterans of NAME. For a list of the team members, visit the club website.

You may join the website and Yahoo group here. Fill in the form and submit it. In a day or so, you will be invited to join the group and be given a link. Be sure to use that link right away so the the invitation does not expire.

So far, the club has had an auction, two free seminars (one on making mods and one on using the molds to make the parts) with more to come. See the current activities.

Some of the activities planned for Fall and Early Winter 2017:

  • Sept. 1-24, 2017 Fall theme free project
  • Oct. 21, 2017 NAME Day on the web, including a live demo on how to assemble the NAME Day kit
  • Oct. 28, 2017 Seminar on working with clay (optional project to follow)
  • Nov. 1-10, 2017 1/4″ workshop, “A room for the holidays”
  • Nov. 18, 2017 Meet the pros in the chat room for Q and A
  • Dec. 9-10, 2017 Holiday party with optional gift exchange

Visit as a guest or become a member of the online club.

Darwin Spring: A Display that Illustrates Miniature “Scales”

Darwin created this project to illustrate the various scales to non-miniaturists. The display uses the 2011 NAME Day project (the work center) in 1″, 1/2″ 1/4″ and 1/144 scales. Darwin exhibited the display at the NAME Sacramento Houseparty.

Linda Vertrees: NAME Day projects

Linda exhibited these 1″ scale scenes at the Sacramento Houseparty. The bunk beds are from the 2016 NAME Day. The alcove is from the 2012 NAME Day. Congratulations to Linda for completing her NAME Day projects!

Linda Vertrees is from Sacramento, CA, and is a member of the Itty Bitty Club.

Make Your Plans for NAME Day 2017

The purpose of NAME Day is to unite and involve all NAME members by doing the same project on the same day at different locations throughout the US and internationally. Participation in an event may occur in clubs, locally, statewide, regionally, or online.

NAME Day will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2017. Expanded events (or areas with conflicting dates) should occur as close to this date as is reasonably possible.

Project: All events will center on the same project – “BEDROOM – PART II: The Armoire”. Plans for the armoire will be provided in 1”, 1⁄2” and 1⁄4” scale as soon as they are available. Some cutters will produce kits for 1/144” scale. This armoire has been designed to coordinate with the bunk beds from 2016. The bunk bed kits will also be available this year. In 2018, the final piece for this room will be available.

More info is available on the NAME website.
