Sherie Hurd: “La Petite Artiste”

Sherie Hurd recently finished this French inspired project. She writes,

“For the past year or so, I have purchased quite a few C’est La Vie kits [True2Scale] as well as lighting components as I work on finishing and furnishing a quarter scale piece that incorporates the best of the best – the late Karen Cary’s French Quarter Vieux Carre and a variety of small scale furniture and accessory artists extraordinaire, along with a dear friend’s (Bill Gittins) fine art.

Karen’s Vieux Carre structure had signage for “La Petite Artiste,” and I always envisioned including a piece or two of Bill’s work. (My husband and I own several in real life, so naturally those would be fun to incorporate.) Then came the Santa Rosa wildfires almost a year ago, and Bill Gittins and his wife, Pat, lost their home along with all of the pieces Bill had painted for Art Trails later that month. Suddenly, La Petite Artiste became the showcase for the Gittins Gallery.

[La Petite Artiste] also showcases an art table and easel kits by Robin Betterley, flowers and plants by Susan Karatjas, and several table kits by Karen Benson. There are two adorable little shih tzus by Barbara Ann Meyer.”
